aomushi drop #16 - About birthdays

My own birthday is in March. But I don’t have any particular memories of it. I remembered doing an interview, but when I was little, I never had even one typical “birthday party.” Yeah… it’s fine. I actually like it that way. I generally moved a lot in March. It wasn’t so much that everything was in cardboard. Well, I think that was probably the reason. Since Plastic Tree began, a lot of people wish me happy birthday. Just now I remembered my birthday from the year before last. Around the time we were recording the album “Puppet Show,” when the studio work was finished and we had returned to the lodging house, everyone was waiting to say “happy birthday!” There was a cake on the table and everyone sang (provided it was a deep chorus of eight guys) … I nearly cried. For this year’s birthday, I’ll probably be working. I like that better. It’s good no matter who I spend it with. Even though I’ve become aware of it now, in part because I’m not interested in my own birthday, I don’t remember other people’s birthdays at all. I can’t even say it’s “this” month or “this” day. I can’t remember my parents’ or the other members’. I only know the season where it falls. Even that surprised me. Ahh…… I’m a cold person. I hate that part of myself. I remembered that our manager said earlier, “birthdays are days we express gratitude to our parents.” I agree. Except in my case, I don’t think it’s a day to express gratitude. I should say “sorry for turning out like this.”
